Author Visits

The study of diversity has been proven to be an important part of any child’s education. For example, when students have a better understanding of diversity, they are more likely to be accepting of other cultures and backgrounds. This can benefit them socially as well as academically, helping them make friends and appreciate all the unique things that make them special.

As an educational leader for over 22 years, I pulled from my own childhood experiences to create the book Braiding Crowns of Friendship. A story about young Christine who moves to a new school and has a run-in with a bully who makes fun of her braids. Leaning on her family and her new “Little Friend”, Christine learns to love her hair and help teach others about the beauty in diversity.
